At Bureau Veritas Certification Chile, we are pleased to announce that we have been officially accredited by The Copper Mark as an independent assessor.
This new service reinforces our commitment to the mining industry, offering our clients an internationally recognized standard to validate their processes under environmental, social, and governance (ESG) sustainability criteria, aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
What is The Copper Mark?
The Copper Mark is an international certification that guarantees copper has been produced ethically, transparently, and responsibly. Its purpose is to ensure that the copper used in the transition to clean technologies (such as renewable energy, electric mobility, and smart grids) comes from sources that meet high performance standards.
Currently, The Copper Mark is the only specialized assurance system for this industry and a key tool for companies seeking to highlight their leadership in sustainability.
Who can get certified?
The Copper Mark certification is aimed at sites participating in the Assurance Process, which are committed to responsible production practices. Production encompasses more than just mining; it refers to the handling and processing of metals at every point in their value chains.
Sites that demonstrate full compliance with the criteria receive The Copper Mark certification for three years. In cases of partial compliance, an improvement plan is required within a maximum of 12 months to address the gaps.
